We’re thrilled to announce the launch of ELDEST, the very first digital magazine by the Eldest Daughters Collective!

Created by and for eldest and only daughters of immigrant and BIPOC families, ELDEST is a celebration of our stories, struggles, style, and strength. This inaugural issue is packed with reflections on care, creativity, leadership, and legacy—told through essays, art, interviews, and more.

Whether you’re the family fixer, boundary-breaker, or quiet backbone, this magazine is a love letter to you. Read it, share it, and feel seen.

    Alexandra Kaohi:

    Alexandra Kaohi is a 26-year-old Korean American self-taught artist with a passion for technology and mixed media art. Her art offers renewed perspective and learning through exploring color, patterns, textures, emotions, and techniques. She finds inspiration from various sources: Abstract and contemporary art; distinctive beliefs and values from her mixed heritage; and unique cultural and social experiences due to her military-nomadic lifestyle and travels. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books in multiple genres; watching anime & reading comics; and staying up-to-date on the latest trends in various topics. She currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri.

    Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Blessing is a Rwandan-American who has been in the DMV for the last 7 years. She loves learning about anything and everything that relates to music, self-care, travel and culture.

    I’m a born and raised New Yorker who recently moved to Washington, DC in search of more growth, peace, and opportunities. Most days I’m going on a jog or walk to explore the city, and I look for ways to give back to a new home and community. Always down to get food and open to recommendations!

    I’m Nicolette, I’m an eldest daughter of two younger siblings. I’m a makeup artist in the dmv area. I’m a sober girl, I started a sober group for women to help make friendships without alcohol.

    Olivia Kim

    Olivia Kim is the eldest daughter of Korean immigrants. She grew up in the small Arctic town of Barrow, Alaska. She has spent the last decade on a journey of self-discovery, seeking to understand the stories that shaped her and healing from the wounds of her past. This journey taught her to embrace who she is beyond her eldest daughter identity. She has found empowerment in her trailblazing and courageous nature, her love for art, yoga, and long distance motorcycle travel. She’s found purpose in helping daughters of immigrants discover and become who they truly are using art and somatics.

    Pattie Lin

    I am a queer, nonbinary Taiwanese American singer songwriter and physical therapist. I am the younger child but only daughter, and have shouldered the caretaking responsibility of my family since my earliest memories. I strive to bridge the gaps between “creative” and “noncreative” worlds in order to foster a deeper collective healing and reduce the harm of capitalism one encounter, one song, one passage at a time.

    Yemisi Aina

    Yemisi Aina lives in Maryland with a large assortment of plants, and a growing collection of books. When not working full time or writing, she likes to dabble in photography, listen to music, and dream about space travel.

    yooji is a first-generation eldest of Korean immigrants, born in Seoul and raised in Tacoma, WA and the DMV. She is the founder of Eldest Daughters Collective and loves building heart-centered events, parties, and community in the DMV and beyond. Shei is an astrologer & movement instructor.
